Aluminum Industry

Luft Filtre delivers consistent, reliable, and high-performance filtration solutions even under the most demanding process conditions.

The aluminum industry presents extremely challenging dust filtration requirements due to high temperatures, abrasive dusts, fluoride-containing gases, and chemical reactions. To maintain production continuity, product purity, and compliance with environmental regulations, dust collection systems must be optimally designed for each specific process.

In aluminum production, advanced filtration systems are used to control dust and gas emissions at key process stages, including alumina calcination units, carbon anode baking furnaces, anode baling lines, and potlines (electrolysis cells). Each of these processes requires specialized filter bag materials due to varying temperatures, chemical compositions, and gas characteristics.

Filtration Applications in Aluminum Production

Alumina Calcination

Due to high temperatures (>300 °C), abrasive alumina dust, and the risk of thermal shock, glass fiber-based filter bags are preferred. For continuous operation, PTFE-coated glass fiber or PTFE felt filter bags are recommended to ensure durability and high performance.

Carbon Anode Baking Furnaces

Operating temperatures reach 100–125 °C, with the release of hydrocarbon gases. Acrylic-based filter bags resistant to chemical exposure are used, while acrylic bags with PTFE membranes provide low emissions and long service life.

Potline (Electrolysis Cells)

Exposed to fluoride-containing gases and 110–130 °C temperatures, these processes are ideally filtered with polyester filter bags, offering low emission levels, high filtration efficiency, and chemical resistance. Pleated (star-bag) designs may be used to increase surface area and capacity.

General Dedusting

For moderate dust generated by equipment and conveying systems throughout the plant, surface-treated polyester filter bags provide an efficient, economical, and durable solution.

Luft Filtre’s Expertise in Aluminum and Metallurgy Industries

Filtration systems in metallurgy sectors such as aluminum, copper, lead, and zinc require specialized solutions due to high temperatures, metallic dust, corrosive gases, and abrasive process residues.

At Luft Filtre, our filter bags designed specifically for these industries offer:

  • Continuous temperature resistance up to 260 °C

  • Chemical resistance to fluoride and chloride compounds

  • High surface filtration capacity

For smelting furnaces, annealing kilns, and electrolysis lines, we perform detailed process analyses to ensure the correct material selection, proper filter sizing, and ventilation optimization.

With on-site installation support, online performance monitoring, and periodic maintenance services, we help maintain system continuity while ensuring operational safety and emission control.
