Coal-Fired Power Plants

Luft Filter delivers consistent, reliable, and high-performance filtration solutions even under the most demanding process conditions.

Coal-fired boilers operate under high temperatures, acidic gas components, and abrasive fly ash, making them one of the most challenging processes in dust filtration. In power generation facilities, the correct selection of filter bags is critical to meet emission limits, ensure effective secondary particle control after electrostatic precipitators, and maintain boiler efficiency.

In coal-fired systems, dust collection units are employed in various stages such as boiler outlet filtration systems, ash conveying and storage units, flue gas treatment lines (pre-desulfurization), and general dedusting systems. The appropriate filter bag material must be selected based on factors such as gas composition (SO₂, NOx, HCl, HF), process temperature, and dust characteristics.

Filtration Applications in Coal-Fired Boilers

Boiler Outlet Dust Filters:
At this stage, gases typically contain fly ash and acidic components such as SO₂ and NOx, with operating temperatures ranging from 150–220°C. PPS (Ryton)-based filter bags offer excellent resistance to both heat and chemical exposure. For processes with higher humidity, PTFE-coated PPS filter bags are recommended.
For applications that require enhanced chemical resistance, P84 (polyimide), PTFE, or fiberglass with PTFE membrane filter bags are ideal choices.

Ash Conveying and Silo Filters:
These environments contain highly abrasive ash particles. Therefore, polyester or acrylic filter bags with strong mechanical durability are preferred. In areas with lower operating temperatures or dust explosion risks, antistatic filter media should be used.

General Dedusting:
For auxiliary fuel handling systems, conveyors, and ash transfer lines, abrasion-resistant polyester or acrylic filter bags provide cost-effective and reliable filtration performance.

Luft Filter's Expertise in Biomass and Coal-Fired Boiler Systems

Luft Filter provides high-performance filter bags specifically engineered to withstand the demanding conditions of biomass and coal-fired boiler operations, including heavy dust loads, variable humidity, temperature fluctuations, and abrasive ash characteristics.

By conducting detailed analyses based on boiler type, fuel composition, and combustion parameters, we determine the optimal fiber structure, surface treatment (ePTFE, silicone, oil- and water-repellent coatings, etc.), and supporting components for each application.

Through careful material selection—tailored to the flue gas composition at the furnace outlet—we help prevent bag clogging, reduce fan load, and lower energy consumption.

Our services include pre-installation analysis, on-site supervision, post-commissioning performance monitoring, and periodic maintenance, ensuring continuous and reliable system operation.

In these challenging processes, Luft Filter is your trusted partner—helping you achieve both environmental compliance and cost-efficient operation simultaneously.
