Filtration Applications in Iron and Steel Production
Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) & Ladle Metallurgy Furnaces (LMF):
During melting operations, fine dust and gases are generated at temperatures below 160°C and are typically captured via canopy systems. In this environment, the filtration system may also be exposed to oil vapors from scrap, acidic gases, and occasionally moisture/steam due to pipe damage in cooling towers. For such complex process conditions, filter bags made of polyester, acrylic, or aramid are recommended. In areas where there is a risk of sparks, flame-retardant coated filter media should be used for enhanced safety.
Blast Furnaces:
Due to the continuous high temperatures (>200°C) and highly abrasive dust (oxide, silica, and carbon-based particles), durable filter media combinations with high thermal resistance—such as fiberglass, P84, or aramid—are required for long service life.
Sintering Plants:
Sintering generates high temperatures, rapid thermal fluctuations (thermal shock), and chemically aggressive gases. Filter bags made of aramid, fiberglass, P84, or PTFE are preferred. Flexible filter media structures are recommended for better resistance to thermal shock.
General Dedusting Systems:
In medium- to low-temperature processes with lower abrasive impact, surface-treated polyester bags or acrylic-based solutions are used to create energy-efficient systems with minimal maintenance requirements.
