Luft Filter Products

Luft Filtre delivers consistent, reliable, and high-performance solutions even under the most challenging process conditions.

Wire Cages – The Unsung Heroes of Filtration

The performance of filter bags in dust collection systems depends not only on the fabric used but also on the quality and design of the supporting wire cages. At Luft Filtre, our custom-designed support cages, available in various sizes and materials tailored to your system, ensure continuous and efficient filtration performance.

What Are Wire Cages and What Do They Do?

Wire cages are metal supports that pass through filter bags, providing structural reinforcement to the fabric. They help maintain the bag’s shape, keeping the filtration surface open, and prevent collapse or wear during cleaning cycles.

At Luft Filter, we offer not only filter bags but also all compatible accessories — including wire cages, venturi nozzles, and flanges — as fully integrated solutions.

Design Types and Connections

Luft Filtre wire cages are manufactured in various geometries to fit different systems:

Geometric Shapes:

  • Circular

  • Oval

  • Flat

  • Star-shaped (compatible with star bags)

Connection Types:

  • Claw-type locking

  • Ring-type connection

  • Bayonet-style quick-fit systems

The cage design is optimized to ensure the filtration surface operates at maximum efficiency. Parameters such as the spacing of longitudinal wires, the distance between horizontal rings, and wire thickness are carefully determined to guarantee safe and long-lasting system performance.

Different materials and surface treatments are offered based on filtration conditions:

Standard Materials

  • Carbon steel

  • Stainless steel (grades 1.4307, 1.4404, and similar)

Surface Treatments

  • Pre-galvanizing

  • Hot-dip galvanizing

  • Cathodic electrocoating (cataphoresis)

  • Pickling and passivation

These options are selected according to the operating temperature, chemical exposure, and corrosion risk of the environment.

Special Considerations for PTFE and Glass Fiber Bags

For filter bags made of more delicate materials such as PTFE or glass fiber, cage design becomes even more critical. These fabrics can be easily damaged if the cage is not properly selected. Therefore, attention must be paid to the following criteria:

  • Selection of cages that are chemically and thermally compatible with the material

  • Precise fit between the bag and the cage

  • Rigidity of the cage sufficient to support the bag structure

Packaging and Logistics

Thanks to our years of experience, we have developed a specialized packaging system that ensures wire cages are safely packed for road, sea, or rail transport. This system guarantees that the products remain free from deformation during storage and retain their original quality from the first day.
